Josh Froley

Josh Froley was born in the small surf town of Dana Point, California. Growing up with a waterman father, Josh spent the majority of his childhood in the ocean, surfing, fishing, diving and sailing. More than just a hobby, Josh began competing in surf contests at the age of 15 and was soon ranked in the top ten of the Professional Longboarding Association and the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) over the next ten years. He traveled to Hawaii, Costa Rica and Mexico competing in longboard events as well as the Southern California circuit.

Josh has been teaching and coaching longboarding since he was eighteen years old starting with the Paskowitz Surf Camp for five plus years before moving on to private lessons from Ventura to San Diego. With more than 20 years’ experience teaching surfing, Josh has developed an excellent program for beginners to experienced surfers. His biggest asset is providing a safe and fun environment for his students.

Wanting to share his passion of the healing power of the ocean, Josh was one of the original surf instructors for “Surfers Healing”, a non-profit charity focused on taking children with special needs surfing as a form of therapy. He also co-founded “A Walk on Water” and aided the founders of “Stella Maris Surf Association” in their water therapy efforts. He continues to support various non-profit surf charity groups.

Dedicated to his passion for the ocean, Josh now spends his days teaching surfing lessons, training up-and-coming long boarders and taking groups on private surf excursions.

In 2019 Josh decided to formalize his surf instruction business and focus on the following:

• Individual Surf Lessons
• Group Surf Lessons
• Coaching programs for aspiring long boarders
• Surf Travel Excursions

Coming soon will be short board instruction programs provided by local professional surfers that have a long-standing relationship with Josh. Look for announcements in the not-too-distant future.
